MEC – Advanced Importer Addon


With this addon, you can connect to FacebookGoogle, Meetup, and Eventbrite unlimitedly. This makes the import process so easy. You should authenticate your account with just a few clicks and plan the import process. Also, with this plugin, you can have more third-party plugins for importing. You should initiate the process from a WordPress on which MEC is installed.

In order to install the addon, follow this article, or go to WordPress Plugins > Add new and click on ‘Add New’. Then drag the zip file of the addon to the file selection directory. Then click on Install and then on Activation.

After having activated the addon, a new menu will be added to the M.E. Calendar. Click on it and you will be redirected to the import page.

In order to start, go to the addon settings. You should connect an account to the importer. We show them to you one by one. You can connect as many accounts as you wish. In order to set the account, do as follows:

  • Facebook Settings:
    Follow every step mentioned in this link: proceed with the import process, you need to give your dedicated URL to Facebook. Provide the dedicated URL in Valid OAuth Redirect URIs in Facebook. Other permissions are as the above mentioned.fb oauth - Advanced Importer Addon

    Now, fill out the information fields.
  • Eventbrite Settings:
    You should be already logged in to your account. Then, click on the Get API Token. Everything is ready now.

  • Meetup Settings:
    Log in to your meetup account, and then click on the OAuth link. Fill out the fields so you can display the OAuth information. The activation process may take up to an hour or two.

  • Google Settings:
    Do as the following link to get API’s:
    We need to give your dedicated URL to Google in order to proceed with the import process. You should provide the URL via Authorized redirect URIs in Google. Other permissions are as the above mentioned.

    Now, fill out the information fields.
  • MEC API Settings:
    Go to the source website and copy the dedicated URL. Go to the target website in the same menu and firstly, enter the API in the corresponding field and secondly, enter the URL of your website. Just that! Everything is ready to go.
  • General Settings:
    You can set the number of tickets shown on each page. This option helps you in the event choosing process. If you need more than 50 tickets, we suggest checking out your system configuration and making sure it can handle such a load of information, because fetching too many events needs an appropriate resource. For example, it should not be timed out, etc. We have provided the required configuration in this link.

After adding your account, you should find your username in the bottom of the settings of each platform (they should be activated) and click on Need Authentication. A new window opens and you should log in to your account once or give access to the events. Now you should log out of settings and return to the main menu. After choosing the platform, choose the account from which ypou want to make the import.  or example, in order to import from Facebook events go to the Facebook tab. If you want to put the import into a specific category, go to new import > import option and choose one.
Choosing where the import should be from, you can determine in the next field. For example, if you want to import a number of specific events, use event ID.
Then you should set the importation type. You will see two items in this step.
One-step means that you make the importation right then.
Scheduled means that the process of import should be done in a specific time.
Status means that you can choose what type of events you want to receive. For example you can import the cancelled events.
In the next two fields, set the start date and end date.
In the end, click on Get All Events From button to fetch the information.
First, you will see the number of calendars(This is for Google).
Click on Get Calendar, where you can see the number of events(This is for Google).
Click on Get Events so you can see the events list(This is for Google).
Choose some events or click on Download All Events to import them.
You can see your events on other pages as well (you can manage the number of this list on the General Settings).

Note 1: Regarding Google, you may need to go through the authentication process every 30 minutes.
Note 2: You may have made some changes to your Google Calendar and not see the changes. If so, clear your browser cache or wait 30 minutes so you can authenticate again. Importing from Third-Party Plugins: If you use one of the All-in-One Event Calendar, Event Organiser, My Calendar, Eventum, or Tevolution-Events and you want to migrate to MEC, we suggest keeping them active. Using this menu, choose your plugin and then proceed with the import. There is no need for the plugin to be activated. After the import is complete, you can move on with MEC. Importing by CSV / ICS: If you have a file or a URL with ics format, you can import using the same file.  Also, if you have a file or a URL with ics format, first try the URL for downloading the file. Then import the csv. You can choose a specific category from here so your imported events get categorized.Import History tab: Here you can see all the imported events, delete or assign categories or see the import status.
